St Marys Booterstown

Science Award

Congratulations once again to the boys in St Mary's who have been awarded another Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Award for their work in 2016/17!!

Ní neart le cur le chéile!

To celebrate Science Week we had a visit from the National Reptile Zoo.  Johnny introduced the boys to some fascinating reptiles including a corn snake, an anaconda, a tortoise and Rosie the Chilean tarantula!!  The focus of the National Reptile Zoo is 'Conservation through Education' and it was a unique learning experience for the boys as a step in their Science Award.

It has been a busy term for the boys in St Mary's with plenty of preparation for the Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science & Maths Awards 2016/2017.

In order to obtain an Award the school must compilte a log of Evidence showing the different steps completed to obtain the science Award.

St Mary's was a hive of activity during Space week (3rd to 8th of October), Maths Week (15th to 23rd of October) and Science Week (13th to 20th of October).

St Mary's has achieved a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Plaque of STEM Excellence for the 2015/2016 academic year. The award is given for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths work carried out in the school during the academic year.

A great achievement!! Well done boys!!
