St Marys Booterstown

Boys in Rang V & Rang VI have been working hard on improving their golf skills over the last number of weeks. We have played numerous rounds of golf in Willie Foxes' Pitch n' Putt Par 3 Golf course in Glencullen. We have played in all types of weather. The aim of the programme is to encourage boys to play golf and to work on their driving, pitching & putting.

Every year we have participated in the Castle School's Junior Golf Competition. This year we were blessed with the weather. On Monday the 30th of June 2016 Our 6th Class Squad comprising of Eamon Burns, George O' Connor, Alex O' Meara & Seán Patterson bravely represented St. Mary's. The Competition started at 7.45am and ended at 11.00am. A Coaching session took place with Colin Clancy the club professional. A huge thank you to Mr. Paddy Patterson who accompanied the boys to the competition.

The Boys then had a meal in the club house with the Lady and Men's captains. Also Shane Lowry, one of Ireland's finest golfers made a surprise visit and spoke to the boys about how to improve their golf game. He was very generous with his time and posed for photographs with all the participating schools. The competition was enjoyed by all the boys and a great day was had by all. Well done to all involved.

Junior Golfers

Six boys from 6th class took part in the Primary School's Cup Gala Day at the

Spawell Par 3 Golf Course on Thursday May 16th. The rain held off in what turned

out to be a magnificent day of golf. The boys played a scramble competition (best

ball on every shot) in three groups of four, joining up with players from other schools.

Although we finished outside the top three, the boys received great praise from teachers

and parents alike, for their skill, sportsmanship and conduct. They represented St. Mary's

and themselves in the best possible manner.

Well done on a great day out!

Mr. de Paor
