Tennis 2014 - 2015
Two teams again entered the primary schools league. The standard of
play is very high in this league and while our second team play and
enjoyed their games, they didn't get out of the group stage.
Weel played to Dylan Mackey, Daniel Fitzgerald, Seán Patterson, Eamonn
Burns, Jeremy Joy and Ted Corry.
The first team had great success and came through as runners-up in
the group stage. They were then narrowly beaten 14-12 in a tie break
in a play off against St. Michaels. Excellent play and skills were
demonstrated by the whole team, made up of Finn O'Driscoll, Alex
O'Meara, Ben Hardiman, Andrew Ryan, Conor Moriarty and Hugo
McLoughlin. Thanks also to our great substitutes Joe Ballance,
Ewan McElroy and Charlie Quinn.
Best wishes to the sixth class boys and see you all next year for
more tennis action.
Congratulations to the first tennis team who have qualified for the next round.
Simon McElroy (6th) is injured and Finn O'Driscoll (5th) subbed for him with Conor
Duddy. As they hadn't played together before, their win was spectacular.
They came back from 4- 1 down to win 9 games to 6!
Jack McKeown (6th) and Alex O'Meara (4th) also had to fight very hard for their
9 - 6 win.
Ben Hardiman (5th) and Patrick O'Rafferty (6th) were narrowly beaten 7 - 9,
their match could have gone either way.
Next match is Friday May 9th in Glenalbyn Tennis Club versus Wicklow Educate
Matches are on a knockout basis from here on in, so we wish the
players the very best of luck.
