Science Week was fantastic fun in Junior Infants!
We decided to link our lovely nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty to our science activities!
The children were busy building the most suitable walls out of different materials for Humpty Dumpty to safely sit on! The boys worked in their teams and they enjoyed discussing what materials and shapes would be best for the wall! Teamwork, sharing and communicating played a big role in this activity.
The boys then decided it would be best to create a jacket for Humpty Dumpty to wear while on the wall incase he does fall again! The children took lead in this learning and in their groups selected the materials they would like to use! Once again, the boys worked amazingly together and we had great fun predicting which materials would work best! As you can see from the photos we had great fun watching some of the eggs go SPLAT!!!
The boys also participated in a variety of STEM and fine motor activities in the classroom where they were allowed to be as creative as they like! We had many buildings, hats, towers, farmyards to name a few creations we saw in our classroom!
We definitely have future engineers in our classroom as the children were tasked with creating their very own playgrounds out of paper! They were cutting, sticking, ripping, folding, squashing, twirling paper to make their fabulous creations!
Well done boys you really were super scientists this week!!!
