Mona, a marine biologist from the Marine Institute visited Sixth class twice this month to teach us about life in our oceans. For the first visit, Mona taught us all about sharks and rays. She had posters, displays, workbooks, a powerpoint presentation and even brought shark eggs (or 'mermaid purses') in for the boys to see. When she finished her presentation she informed us that she would be back in two weeks and the next time, the boys would do the presenting and she would do the listening!

The boys worked individually, in pairs and in groups over the next two weeks and created Google Slides presentations, posters, poems and even a rap based on their learning from Mona. We took a questionnaire evaluating our marine literacy before the first visit, and the same one again after the second visit and our scores went from 55% to 88%. Look at some of the work we created!
