Our Aistear theme for October in Junior Infants is Autumn.
We learned of all the different signs to look out for as the seasons change. We walked to Booterstown Park on a scavenger hunt and found red, yellow, orange and brown leaves, berries, pine cones, mushrooms, chestnuts, acorns and lots and lots of conkers! We brought some back to create a Nature Table in the classroom.
We learned all about hedgehogs through the Starlight Oral Language programme we use in St. Mary's. We learned how they get ready for hibernation by making nests from leaves, moss, twigs and other garden debris. We made our own hedgehogs using clay in Art and then went out to the school yard and created nests for them. Mr. O' Connor came with us and told us lots of facts about hedgehogs too!
