ASD CLASS NAME: "THE LIGHTHOUSE".

The Student Council has announced the new name for our ASD class; "The Lighthouse." The Student Council met this week and had visited all classes looking for students suggestions. Parent consultation was also carried out via Google forms.Staff members were also consulted.  The Student Council then made a shorlist of names. A subsequent vote led to a unanimous choice, "The Lighthouse". Congrats to all involved. It's a very apt name. 

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

Catholic Schools Week takes place this week from January 22nd to 29th. The theme is: Walking Together in Faith and Love.  Classes from our parish schools will attend 10 a.m. Mass, Tuesday to Friday inclusive, during the week. On Thursday, January 26th, children from Saint Mary's  will take part in the liturgy of the Mass to celebrate the role of grandparentsin handing on the faith. We warmly invite grandparents to attend 10 a.m. Mass and  for refreshments in the Pastoral Centre, after Mass. Grandparents who do not live near the church are invited to join us the church webcam, www.booterstownparish.ie

STEM: PARENT EXPERTISE

If any parent/ guardian or past pupil is involved in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths we would love you to come into the school and share your expertise in a class. You may wish to facilitate a workshop in the school or even facilitate a class visit to your place of employment. If interested, please contact the school office or your child's class teacher .

SHANE HA : BLAST ARTS IN EDUCATION RESIDENCY 2023

We are delighted that Saint Mary's has been awarded a fully funded 20-hour BLAST Artist in residency opportunity with Shane Ha, via the new BLAST Arts in Education Residency Programme 2022/2023. Shane visited 3rd class recently , talked to the class, listened to all their proposals and took away all their drawings. We look forwrad to Shane's next visit and seeing what whe final draft will look like. 

NATIONAL PARENTS COUNCIL: BUILDING HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS: SESSION 2 "ACTIVE LISTENING." 

This week the NPC is facilitating the second  interactive session for parents on supporting their child to build healthy friendships & relationships. Session 2 is called Active Listening.  An email will be sent out to all parents with registration details and can also be found on our school website  under the School News tab. NPC: Session 2: Active Listening.

SAINT MARYS CLOSED FRIDAY FEBRUARY 3rd  2023

Please remember that Saint Mary's will be closed on friday 3rd February. This is to facilitate whole school staff training by the NCSE: National Council for Special Education on ASD and setting up an ASD class. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO KILMACUD CROKES  ON THEIR ALL-IRELAND CLUB WIN

Congratulations to Kilmacud Crokes on their great 1-11 to 1-09 All-Ireland club victory over Glen. There will be wll deserved celebrations in many a Saint Mary's household  this evening & this week.
