LÁ GLAS & AN TAISPEÁNTAS SA CHLOS: Due to possible rain tomorrow, Thursday 14th , we will now hold our Taispeántas this Friday 15th in the school yard at 9:00 a.m. This will also be our 'Lá Glas' where the boys can wear a green item of clothing to school.We look forward to seeing you at our Taispeástas.

SEACHTAINE NA GAEILGE: Seachtain na Gaeilge 2024 runs from March 1st until March 17th this year.St. Mary’s Boys’ National School is, as always, very proud to celebrate Seachtaine na Gaeilge, with a range of activities taking place in school next week, such as ‘Raidió na Scoile’ (school radio), ‘Tráth na gCeist’ (quiz),‘Comórtas Ealaíne’ (art competition) ‘Scéalaíocht’ (story telling), ‘Biongó’ (bingo) and a focus to speak as much Irish as we can. One of the highlights of the week will be a ‘Taispeántas’ (performance) held in the school playground (weather permitting) on Thursday March 14th at which each class will perform. This starts at 9:00 a.m. and we would love it if you could join us. Thursday is also a ‘Lá Glas’ where the boys are asked to wear a green item of clothing.

CO-OPERATION BETWEEN BOOTERSTOWN SCHOOLS ON SMART DEVICES CODES OF HONOUR: Our Lady of Mercy Convent School, Booterstown National School, and St. Mary’s Boys National School fully support our parents’ associations with the implementation and carrying out of these honour codes established by our parental bodies. We thank the parents’ associations for their work on these, and hope their impact will have positive effects on the social and emotional growth of all students. Our schools already have ‘Mobile Phone and devices’ policies, which all state that our schools do not allow the use of mobile phones or devices within our schools. SMARTPHONE/SMART DEVICE HONOUR CODE REMINDER:  A huge thank you to our Parents Association who collaborated with all parents in formulating a Smartphone/Device Honour Code.  Please read the Honour Code & discuss it with your child. FRIENDS OF SAINT MARY'S DRAW: Congratulations to the winners of our Friends of Saint Mary's Monthly Draw. December Matthew Hand. January Tadhgh Rowley and February Colm Keaney. A huge thank you to our Parents' Association for organising the montly draw. SCHOOL CLOSURE / HOLIDAYS Saint Mary's is not a polling station, so it will be open this Friday 8th March 2024.Saint Marys' will be closed on Monday 18th March for the Saint Patrick's Bank Holiday Weekend. Saint Mary's will close at 12:00 noon for all classes on Friday 22nd March for the Easter Holidays. The School will remain closed for two weeks and will reopen at the normal time of 08:35 on Monday the 8th April. The school gates will be opened at 08:25 for students to access the yard. 

PRIMARY MATHS CURRICULUM SCHOOL CLOSURE MONDAY 29th APRIL. Saint Mary's BNS will close on Monday 29th April. Staff will participate in a New Maths Curriculum Training Day. The new maths curriculum comes into effect from September 2024.

MAKING WAVES BY RIVERBANK ARTS CENTRE: Making Waves is an immersive multi-sensory dance theatre performance designed specifically for children & young people aged 8 to 13 years with mild to complex needs. This magical sea voyage sets sail in search of hidden treasure and along the way encounters rolling waves, sparkling fish and swooping gulls. Designed to be inclusive, audience members are seated in pods representing boats on stage, enabling everyone to become part of the adventure. The specially designed boats are suitable for wheelchair users. HEALTH & SAFETY WALKING ON PATHS: Can all adults and children use the path on Grotto Avenue and Grotto Place in the morning when walking to and leaving from school. The roads outside the school are public roads and are used by staff and neighbours.In the interest of everyone's health and safety can we ensure that everyone walks on the paths at all times.

CARS ON GROTTO AVENUE AND GROTTO PLACE: Again in the interest of health and safety of all the children in Saint Mary's we ask all parents/ minders/ grandparents not to drive their cars on Grotto Avenue and Grotto Place as there are so many children and adults walking / scooting and cycling to school up both these roads during the school day. We thank you for your support and continued co-operation in this health and safety initiative for all our children.

Please liaise directly with the club organiser if you have any queries regarding starting dates, days, times, costs, holiday breaks, and dates the relevant after school clubs finishes etc. Collection of children after these activites is arranged between parents/ guardians and the afterschool club organisers and not the school administration. 

TRAINING DATES & MATCH DATES: for soccer, hurling, and football will be given to classes and students involved when up and running throughout the school year.
