St Mary's Student Council made a presentation to the parents of our 2026-2027 Incoming Junior Infants. The Student Council explained how the Council uses the Lundy Model for its meetings and that the Lundy Model enables the Student Council to have space, voice, audience and influence.
The New Primary Curriculum Framework has 7 key competencies. The Student Council used these 7 competencies as a framework for their presentation. Each member of the Council took a competency and explained what the school and the Student Council were doing to implement each competency in Saint Mary's. The Student Council spoke about:being well; being a digital learner, being mathematical; being a communicator and using language; being creative; being an active learner and finally being an active citizen.The Student Council gave examples of how they help implement each competency in our school and gave practical examples e.g. Well Being Wednesdays, the Amber Flag Committee, the Green School Committee, Sports, Ronda's Four Freedoms in Maths and Spanish classes.
At the end of the presentation the Student Council outlined their main goals for this academic year. The Student Council members were delighted by the warm applause given to them at the end of their presentation. They were also thrilled by the snacks given to them by the Parents' Association.
