St. Mary’s BNS, as an Active School Award winner, wishes to offer a broad range of sport opportunities to our pupils, including tennis. Tennis tuition is offered free of charge as part of the curricular P.E. Modules during the school day.

We have competed in the Leinster Tennis Primary School’s League for fifteen years and most recently in May 2019 we proudly took part in our very first final.

Training weekly since February in Glenalbyn T.C., the boys never missed a session, despite some very harsh weather conditions. Seven tough matches later against opposition from all over Leinster, we found ourselves competing in our very first final in Greystones T.C. Despite playing with great skill and passion to the end, we were simply beaten by a superior team.

Patricia Rowley, team mentor, cannot commend highly enough the dedication, hard work and enthusiasm of the tennis team. Their excellent manners and behaviour made them proud ambassadors of St. Mary’s BNS. We feel that our late Anita O’Dea (RIP) who introduced tennis to the school many years ago would be very proud of our achievements.

Very well done to Hugo Blake, Rees Dowling, Mark Fitzgerald, Christian O’Flynn, Mark O’Meara, Max Sheridan and to our substitutes Louis Bolger and Daniel Patterson.
