Our wonderful Junior Infants have been incredibly busy, and we are so proud of all the amazing learning happening in our classroom every day. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and excitement for school shine through in everything they do!
Literacy – Phonics & Writing
The children have made fantastic progress in phonics. We’ve been:
• Blending and segmenting sounds
• Reading our first words and simple stories
• Practicing correct letter formation
• Writing our very first words and sentences
It’s been wonderful to watch their confidence grow as they begin their journey as readers and writers!
Maths – Busy Little Mathematicians
Maths has been filled with fun, hands-on activities. Recently we have been:
• Exploring 3D shapes and testing “Will it roll or not?”
• Building secure towers using different materials
• Working with numbers up to 5
• Sorting, collecting and chatting about data
• Taking part in lots of active maths around the room and outdoors
The children are thinking, questioning and problem-solving every day!
PE – Gymnastics With Mark
PE has been a big highlight! The class absolutely loved gymnastics with Mark. We have been practising:
• Balancing
• Jumping and landing safely
• Rolling
• Travelling in different ways
• Using our bodies with control and coordination
So much fun and so much energy!
SESE – Winter Explorers
We’ve been learning all about winter and chatting about the changes we can see in the world around us. The children have enjoyed lots of active learning, using their senses, sharing their ideas, and discovering new vocabulary.
Winter Art, Music & Drama
Preparations for winter are well underway! Junior Infants have been busy with:
• Winter-themed art projects
• Seasonal songs and music
• Fun drama activities and imaginative play
The classroom is full of creativity and excitement.
Mindfulness & Meditation
We also take time each day to relax, breathe and practise mindfulness. The children are doing so well with our meditation activities, helping them to feel calm, focused and ready for learning.
Well Done, Junior Infants!
We are so proud of everything the children have achieved. They are working so hard, trying their best and making wonderful progress. Keep it up, Junior Infants — you’re amazing!
