October Class News
October was a busy and creative month in our class! We celebrated the spooky season with a range of exciting activities that brought together reading, writing, art, and lots of imagination. One of our highlights was our visit to the Lexicon Library in Dún Laoghaire, where we took part in an inspiring workshop with author Dave Rudden. He shared brilliant tips on how to create characters, build stories, and come up with ideas for our own books.
Back in class, we put his advice to good use by writing and redrafting our very own 'Spooky Stories' for our narrative writing lessons. We even used AI to design front covers for our stories just like real authors! In art, we created spooky 'Nightmare Windows' and haunted house drawings. In English, we also used procedural writing to make up our own Halloween potions with some truly frightful ingredients!
Our Spanish teacher, Sergio, taught us all about Halloween traditions in Spain and helped us learn some Halloween vocabulary in Spanish. We also used the Chromebooks to research our favourite Halloween movies and wrote short reviews about them. We ended the month with a Halloween dress-up day and spooky walk before the midterm break.
