School & Class News

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our class has won the award for Best Attendance for the month of September! This fantastic achievement is linked directly to our participation in the Anseo attendance initiative. "Anseo" means "here" or "present" in Irish, and its goal is to remind us all that every single school day counts!

Our pupils have shown amazing commitment to coming to school on time and ready to learn every single day. A massive congratulations to all the children for their excellent effort, and a huge thank you to our parents and guardians for supporting this initiative at home. We are so proud to hold the attendance trophy for September - let’s keep up the brilliant work and see if we can make it two months in a row!

Bí Anseo!

Our class had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating Roald Dahl Day in September! To honour the beloved author, we dived headfirst into the world of “The Twits” through an exciting integrated literacy, drama and art lesson.

We started by reading descriptive extracts from the book, focusing closely on the characters. The class then stepped into the characters' shoes, using their best acting skills to reenact short, funny scenes from the novel.

Our main focus, however, was the infamous Mr. Twit and his messy food-filled beard! We explored all the gross details of the food that gets trapped in his beard. Then, the children let their creativity shine in art. Everyone drew food items and had a fantastic time decorating his beard.

The children thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the magic of Roald Dahl! 📖

What a wonderful start we have had to the school year! Our First Class pupils have been incredibly busy adjusting to their new routines and classroom rules. They are adapting brilliantly to the longer school day and are already working hard.

One of the highlights of our new morning routine is our daily Morning Meeting. The children have been thoroughly enjoying this time together, especially because it features a very special member of our room: Pineapple, our class bear! Named by the class themselves, Pineapple plays a big part in helping us settle into the day.

Each morning, Pineapple is passed around our circle. As each child holds him, they answer a special morning question, sharing their thoughts, feelings and favourite things with their peers. This lovely tradition has been a fantastic way for the children to practice their speaking and listening skills, bond as a group, and start every morning with a smile.

We are incredibly proud of how well everyone has settled into First Class. Keep up the amazing work!
