After a well-deserved rest over the Christmas holidays, our return to school has been a busy one!  In Science, we made 'rockets' using plastic bottles and 'launched' them in the yard.  We mixed bicaronate of soda with vinegar in the bottles.  This caused a chemical reaction that made carbon dioxide, causing the 'rocket's to lift off!  We had mixed results, and the area was a bit messy afterwards, but we had great fun!

We also investigated which material was the best insulator: cloth, plastic or tinfoil.  Most of us were correct in thinking that tinfoil would be the best!

In art, we made some firework pictures, using cut-up toilet rolls as 'stamps' to make the fireworks and we also produced some winter tree pictures using a patterned background.

In Literacy, we wrote recounts.  We really enjoyed writing the recount 'Worst Day Ever at School'!
