Science Experiment 1

Why does popcorn pop?

We all went into the staffroom and carried out a delicious Science experiment.

The popcorn kernal, which is the seed, has a droplet of water inside it.

When we heated all the kernals in the microwave, the water turned to steam.

That made the popcorn explode out of it's kernal! Benlin listened for the pop.

Elliot harvested the healthy snack.....and we all enjoyed!

Science Experiment 2

We celebrated St. Brigid's Day, and the boys favourite story was about how she gave away all her mother's freshly churned butter to a poor and hungry old woman. Brigid was worried that her mother would be very angry with her, but suddenly there appeared 5 freshly butter churns!

To honour St. Brigid on her special day, we made our own Brigid's Butter.

And so with some marbles, cream. a pinch of salt and some vigorous shaking, we churned our own butter!

DELICIOUS!!

We made our own 'Emotions Thermometer!

The boys can 'match the face' with how they are feeling. Give it a spin!

"Am I feeling happy? Sad? Angry? Frustrated? Calm? Silly? Tired?"

Then.... "Lets talk about it.... and make it better!"
