Our class had a fantastic hands-on learning experience during a squid dissection workshop with Mona Mc Cree from the Foras na Mara Marine Institute. We explored the anatomy of a squid up close, dissecting it, removing and identifying different parts, including the ink sac. One of the highlights was using the squid’s ink along with its spine to write on postcards!
The class also learned how to determine whether the squid was male or female and discovered fascinating facts about how squids move through the water using jet propulsion.
