6th Class went on an overnight school trip to Carlingford Adventure Centre recently.
We took a bus from school early on Monday morning and we were met outside the centre by Carmen, our instructor for the two days. Carmen talked to us about what the tour would entail and then showed us to our rooms. We had two big rooms with twelve beds and one smaller room with four beds. Ms. Smith and Ms. Doyle also had their own room too. After we got settled in we went to our first activities in the Skypark which was a 3D maze and Combat Archery. After lunch we went to the beach and made our rafts. This was harder than it looked but we all managed to stay afloat when we took them out on the water. The weather was awful the first day so our Night Hike in the evening got cancelled but we did some fun activities with Steven and Tara in the hall instead.
No-one got much sleep that night! We raided the shop in the centre, played table tennis and games with other schools and played games in our rooms.
The second day, everyone was very tired but we soldiered on! We made a long uphill hike, with lovely views to the our Rock Climbing activity in the morning where we learned how to climb and also how to keep the climber safe from the bottom using a 'ping, pong' system! After Rock Climbing and lunch, we went back to Skypark and did some High Ropes challenges. Really high!! We had to climb up a very tall totem poll and fit four boys on the top on a tidy podium. It was terrifying and exciting at the same time!
Our bus collected us at 5pm on Tuesday, after we all had some pizza and chips. The bus home was a lot quieter than on the way up and there were a lot of naps! We had a great time and it was a great way to finish our time in St. Mary's.
